In operation since 1934, the "Triton Leo Group (Pty) Ltd, is still the market leader in the distribution and manufacture of aerosol products and abrasive hand cleaners to the Multi Purpose Lubricant market. According to John Milner, CEO of the Triton Leo group - Q20 leads the pack when it comes to Multi Purpose Lubricants. This product displaces moisture, stops rust in its tracks, protects and lubricates all household and industrial products. Q20 has the most advanced technical formula, it is ozone friendly and does not contain flammable propellant gases. John explains that “We use carbon dioxide as the propellant gas in the aerosol, which is 100% safe for consumers and our environment, something of which we are very conscious!"

Being such a multi purpose product - Q20 has become something of a National Heritage, and many of us will remember the days in the South African Defence force, when you were issued a can of Q20 (Spookpis) to protect and lubricate your firearm. The Q20 aerosol, along with all the other Q aerosols have a ball bearing valve below the nozzle, which enables the aerosol to be completely inverted and still give you the perfect spray for those inaccessible areas.

Triton Leo is situated in Founders View, Modderfontein, and manufactures a host of products. These include:

  • Q10 - Penetrating Fluid.
  • Q4-45 Antiseptic Hand cleaner
  • Q12 Rust remover and inhibitor
  • Q8 Silicone Lubricant
  • Q5 - Graphite penetrating fluid
  • Q-IN-ONE - Multi purpose oil

Triton Leo are also the sole importers of "Hylomar" Gasket sealant (Universal Blue). This Rolls Royce approved product, is a non-silicon gasket sealer which is not affected by petrol, diesel or oil, and does not harden.

Mr. Roy Singh, Financial Director for the group has been with Triton Leo for 30 years, and Mr. Wolly Wolozinsky, who has been with the company for 18 years, tells us that Q20 has an approximately 60% market share and is one of the most respected brands in South Africa.

Mr Robin Lalla, sales director for Kwa-Zulu Natal, who has been with the group for 28 years, says that Q20’s market share in Natal has been on a constant growth curve, not only due to its general popularity but due to its fantastic rust inhibiting properties which makes it the most popular product in Kwa-Zulu Natals moist climate.

Triton Leo have recently appointed Mr. Andrew Duncan in the Western Cape who brings with him an intricate knowledge of the industry, the wholesalers and distributors and the competitors.

Mr. Simon Smith, has been appointed in Gauteng, and has a history of Sales and Marketing successes behind his name. Simon states that he was very excited when approached by Triton Leo, as Q20 is a brand that he has grown up with. "I remember my Dad spraying Q20 into the old outboard motor, his fishing reels and into the locks on our doors, in fact, anything that squeaked, stuck or looked mildly suspicious, got a good dosing of Q20" "I believe that along with Wolly and Andrew we will take Triton Leo to new heights"

Craig Milner, the son of CEO John Milner, will be stepping in at the helm, and with the young blood, and experience from the stalwarts, we are sure that Triton Leo and all her products will continue to be the South African success story they have always been.
